XML Topic Maps (XTM) is the name of the standard XML-based interchange syntax of Topic Maps. There are two versions of the standard:

• XTM standard version 1.0 was written by the Topicmaps.Org Authoring Group (2001). It is commonly used.
• XTM standard version 1.1 as a ISO/IEC Draft (2005) based on the new Topic Map Data Model (TMDM). The differences between the two versions can be found in Annex E of the draft.
